Northglenn Arts Presents Silent Film Series

Northglenn Arts is launching a Silent Film Series, presented at the Parsons Theatre. Featuring live musical accompaniment by the world-renowned Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, this unique series combines the charm of classic cinema with the dynamic energy of live performance. Films will be screened in February and in May. Tickets start at $7.

Accompanying the films will be The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, a celebrated chamber quintet based in Louisville.

The group is renowned for its authentic performances of small-orchestra music once played in movie theaters during the silent film era.

The Silent Film Series Line-Up:

Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr. (1924)

Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 10 a.m.

Tickets are $7 to $9. If you choose to buy lunch for after the screening those tickets are $23 to $25.

Before the screening, the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra will perform a selection of silent film pieces as concert works, setting the stage for the unforgettable comedic brilliance of Sherlock Jr.

This classic features Buster Keaton as a hapless projectionist who dreams of being a heroic detective, showcasing groundbreaking stunts and effects that remain awe-inspiring to this day.

In The Kid, Charlie Chaplin stars as a lovable vagabond who raises an abandoned child, portrayed by the talented Jackie Coogan. This film captures Chaplin’s unmatched ability to weave comedy with heartfelt emotion, making it a masterpiece of the silent era.
