Olde Golden Christmas merriment is apparent on Saturday mornings, December 7, 14 & 21 at 11 a.m. The Olde Golden Christmas parade features floats, clowns, holiday characters, antique fire trucks, dance groups and more, and downtown shopkeepers offer treats, music, cider, hot chocolate, visits with Santa and bargains. The route is down Washington Avenue from 11th to 13th Streets through historic downtown. Each parade is different.
In addition, there are FREE hayrides each Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. after the parades with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Pick up point is in front of Gold Mine Cupcakes (700 12th St.).
FREE (donations accepted) holiday Newfoundland dog cart rides run from noon to 3 p.m. You’ll find the gentle giants in front of the Golden Visitors Center.
