The fish are starting to bite at waters all around the state and outdoorsy bargain hunters can take the bait of FREE fishing the first full weekend in June. Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites anglers of all ages to participate in its annual FREE Fishing Weekend, Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. (FYI – You can hook the offer every year on the first full weekend in June.)
No license is required, so it’s a no-cost way for adults who have never fished (or haven’t in a long time) to cast their fishing rod in our state’s beautiful lakes and rivers.
The fishing fees increased in 2019 (in every age category), so the offer is a big catch for families looking for weekend fun outdoors. You can buy a fishing license here. However, youth 15 and under always fish for FREE.
CPW’s website is a gold mine of information, including a page with 101 suggested spots to take kids fishing.
