Free Date Night Under Mars

POSTED BY
Laura

Come have a date night with Mars. Local Astronomer Todd Thalimer from the Thalimer Observatory will discuss the history, exploration, and why the Summer of 2018 is so special for the Mars, aka the Red Planet, on Saturday, July 21 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Elizabeth Library. Will we find evidence of life? Is there water? What will happen when humans visit?

Mars will be making its closest approach to Earth since 2003, and won’t be this close again until 2035. After the talk, Todd will lead the group outside to an 8-inch telescope for Mars viewing. If you have never looked through a telescope before, this is your chance to see a fabulous planet up close and personal with your own eyes. Telescope viewing will be weather-permitting. It is suggested you dress in layers.

The FREE event is suitable for all ages, and feel free to bring your own telescope or binoculars. Please RSVP to this event so they know how many people will be attending. Do so by by calling the Elizabeth Library at 303-646-3792. 651 Beverly St., Elizabeth.

You’ll find more information by contacting its Thalimer Observatory on their Facebook page.
