City folk just don’t get out to the “country” enough. There’s a quick fix on Saturday, May 25 during Farm and Ranch Day at CALF’s historic Lowell Ranch in Castle Rock. The entire family can see all sorts of livestock and the historic Lowell Ranch House. Agricultural vendors, exhibitors and classes will also be featured during the FREE event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lowell Ranch hosts the oh-so-popular farm baby animal tours during the spring, so this is the perfect chance to see all creatures big and small including lambs, calves, chickens, pigs, and more.
Exhibits and family activities begin at 10 a.m. You’ll find a lot of fun things to do.
See draft horses, livestock, micro-farm produce gardens, CALF’s orchard and berry patch and much more up close.
Shop the Veggie Seedling Sale, all grown through a cooperative effort between CALF and the Wellspring Community.
Tour the historic Lowell Ranch House.
Experience some of the popular projects 4-H has to offer including shooting sports, livestock and others. A ton of 4-H participants will be on hand with their animals, as they participate in a showmanship clinic.
Take a hayride for $2.
There will also be concessions on sale with all proceeds to benefit CALF’s Connecting Kids to Agriculture Programs.
If you have never been to CALF, we promise you’ll have a good time. CALF connects people of all ages and abilities to agriculture through authentic educational programs and community projects. Their goal is to help people experience agriculture and better understand the importance of agriculture in everyday life.
