The city of Parker toasts German heritage and traditions with its own Oktoberfest from Friday to Sunday, September 15 to 17 in O’Brien Park. The FREE event features live German music, Bavarian dancers, a Biergarten, contests (keg rolling, hot dog eating, stein hoisting, bratwurst eating, pie eating, and bubble gum blowing) and lots of authentic German food. Kids can enjoy an obstacle course, rock climbing walls, midway games and more.
This year’s event will feature “Das Maerchenland” (the German Fairytale Land) which will be located in the the Grassy Area of the park by the gazebo. Make sure you stroll through and learn about German fairytales. Also new this year is the Dachshund Race and Costume Competition and a Mustache Competition.
More than 100 vendors will be on hand, too. Hours are Friday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 10795 S. Victorian Dr., Parker.
