Southlands Shopping Center is preparing to unveil its new Town Square, Cub Hub and other center amenities and invites the public to join in on the celebration. Besides a sidewalk sale and craft market, a number of FREE family-friendly events are planned for Friday & Saturday, September 25 & 26. Some require a reservation, while others are open to all.
Here’s the Grand Opening schedule:
Mini-Chalk Art Festival
Friday, September 25 — 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Professional chalk artists will create beautiful masterpieces on the surrounding streets of Town Square. Free chalk will be supplied for children to draw their own masterpieces in the kid’s area.
Ceremonial Fountain Opening//Laser Light Show (Reservation Required)
Friday, September 25 — 7 p.m. & 8:15 p.m.
As part of the newly updated Town Square at Southlands, a new vibrant and lively pop-jet fountain will be switched on by Aurora Mayor Coffman and other dignitaries. This fountain is for the community to enjoy and use. It is predicted to be a beautiful evening and weekend for the launch. A laser light show with live music will follow. Make your reservations here.
Debut of Southlands Bigger-Than-Life Murals (Meet the artist)
Saturday, September 26 — Noon to 2 p.m.
See the beautiful new mural at Southlands created by popular local artist, Austin Zucchini-Fowler, who will host a meet-and-greet to share his inspiration for the new addition. Located on the south end Town Square, across from Ted’s Montana Grill, the mural is a joint commission by Visit Aurora and Southlands.
A second mural was commissioned from Denver artist Pat Milbery. It is located in the Southlands’ new Guest Services at the Clock Tower. After recently completing his vibrant and impressive work on Larimer Square in downtown Denver,, Milbery created a beautiful piece, Southlands Reshaped and
Reimagined, that celebrates Southlands and Aurora.

Planting of the Kid’s Cub’s Tulip Garden (Reservation Required)

Enjoy some fresh air and come plant tulip bulbs in the Town Square garden. Next Spring you can visit Southlands and see the tulips grow. Make your reservation here.
Fitness Demonstrations/Fitness Classes (Reservation Required)
Saturday, September 26 — Noon to 3 p.m.
