POSTED BY
Laura

indian-children-danceThe annual Denver Art Museum Friendship Powwow honors American Indian culture with traditional dances, drum groups, Indian food such as fry bread, arts and crafts, hands-on activities and dancing. Admission is FREE to this celebration that takes place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout the day, visitors can watch colorful Native American dance competitions (dancers range in age from Tiny Tots to Golden Age), participate with artists in hands-on activities, and enjoy their first (or 101st!) piece of fry bread.

The celebration includes artmaking opportunities, local Native organizations selling fry bread and Indian tacos, as well as vendors showcasing jewelry, art, crafts, clothing, and much more!

The celebration includes a jewelry making art activity with Tara Gover in the Creative Hub from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Grand Entry, when all the dancers perform together, will begin at 11 a.m. inside the Martin Building’s Sie Welcome Center and Sturm Grand Pavilion.

September 7 is a FREE DAY at the DAM and general admission will be free of charge for ALL visitors. For more information, visit the museum’s website.

The Denver Art Museum is located at 100 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy., 720-913-0162.
