The chain may be well-known for its roast beef sandwiches, but they’re also one of the biggest sellers of the Greek gyro sandwich in the United States. The chain’s version is made with flame-seared, knife carved gyro meat, along with crispy vegetables and creamy tzatziki sauce — all tucked in a warm pita bread.
For a limited time, the chain is highlighting its popular gyro sandwich with a Greek-themed digital sporting event, the Greek Gyro Games.
To compete, customers will digitally “run” an Arby’s-themed marathon in an attempt to break the world marathon record of 2:01:38. The classic 8-bit game features an Arby’s team member who starts to run in front of an Arby’s.
As the minutes turn into hours and exhaustion settles in, players will have to avoid distractions and rely on an Arby’s food truck to supply them with fuel.
Those Arby’s fans (and hungry bargain hunters) with the time and endurance to cross the virtual finish line will be rewarded with a coupon for a FREE gyro sandwich. (Yes, you’re right! Completing the game can take an hour or two.)
