Friends of Chamber Music will open their 2023-2024 season on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with the Polonsky-Shifrin-Wiley Trio, followed by a concert with pianist Michelle Cann on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Both concerts are in Gates Hall at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts on at 7:30 p.m.
Anna Polonsky (piano), David Shifrin (clarinet) and Peter Wiley (cello) will perform classics by Beethoven and Brahms, as well as newer music by Nino Rota and Pacquito D’Rivera.
Cann is the recipient of the 2022 Sphinx Medal of Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the Sphinx Organization, dedicated to the development of Black and Latino classical musicians. Her diverse program reflects her commitment to and passionate advocacy of music by underrepresented composers.
