The Colorado State University Spur campus at the National Western Complex comes alive every second Saturday of the month for a day full of FREE interactive, hands-on activities that the whole family can enjoy. The next 2nd Saturday at Spur is Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This month’s theme is “Spur in Bloom,” and visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a host of interactive activities throughout the day.

CSU Spur is a free educational year-round public life-long learning destination in Denver focused on engaging Pre-K-12 students, families and visitors around food, water and health.
Activities include:
Join the Colorado State Forest Service to learn about local trees and how they impact our lives.
Learn all about pollinators and get insight into fascinating behaviors like why bees buzz, dance, how they see and more!
Create your own miniature bouquet of fresh flowers to take home or give to someone special.
Learn about chromatography by creating a colorful craft butterfly.
Jam out at the CSU Spur music lab, and learn about music and audio software in a pop-up recording studio.
Watch “Cross Pollination,” a performance celebrating the connection between music and nature in collaboration with El Sistema Colorado.
Play at a stream table showing the power of water and erosion.
Watch veterinarians performing surgery on dogs and cats in the Humane Colorado Veterinary Hospital.
Explore virtual reality demonstrations on the Vida Building’s first floor.
See live music, check out local vendors and even visit a petting farm down by the Riverfront at the Market at the Center.
