Last Minute! Tonight: See New Documentary on Blood Incantation Followed By Q&A With The Band

POSTED BY
Laura

Last minute experience! Tonight, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Denver-formed progressive death metal band Blood Incantation is partnering with Alamo Drafthouse for a one-night-only nationwide screening of their new documentary, All Gates Open: In Search of Absolute Elsewhere. And Sloans Lake is the national broadcast hub, with the band in person for a live Q&A streamed to 26 Alamo locations across the country.

The immersive documentary follows Blood Incantation during their 2023 Berlin sessions at Hansa Studios (Bowie, Iggy Pop) as they record the band’s critically acclaimed 2024 album, Absolute Elsewhere.

The screening will be preceded by a pre-show featuring Blood Incantation’s 20-minute epic music video for “The Stargate,” offering a closer look at their process and cosmic vision.

If you are interested in attending, you can fill out this entry form for the chance to win two tickets.

On the form, you can choose your preferred Alamo Drafthouse location:

  • Alamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake (off of Colfax near Sloans Lake) – with the band in person
  • Alamo Drafthouse Littleton (off of Santa Fe in Aspen Grove) – live broadcast
  • Alamo Drafthouse Westminster (off of Highway 36) – live broadcast

Entries close today, Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and winners will be notified by 1:35 p.m. so they have time to plan their evening.

NOTE: Seats are guaranteed as long as you show up by 6:45 p.m.

About the Band

From the very beginning, Denver, Colorado’s Blood Incantation has upended orthodoxy and expectation with inexhaustible forward thought and ample amounts of audacity.

Their iconoclastic attitude and tendency towards the daring started with them being a Morbid Angel-inspired death metal band that exercised the gall to open their 2013 demo with singing bowls, and has led to them sharing the stage with Opeth at the ancient ruins of Pompei’s Anfiteatro Degli Scaviin later this summer.

Along the way, there have been worldwide sold-out tours, enormous festival gigs, genre-defying and defining albums, and an explosive expansion of the boundaries of what extreme music is and the potential of what it could be.

Fall 2024 saw the release of the band’s third album, Absolute Elsewhere, two lengthy songs that corralled ambient, prog, and Komische Musik with ‘90s death metal and hurled the melange towards a universe coloured by ‘70s sci-fi.

The deliberate, delicate architecture and logistical heavy lifting that went into four dudes from the Mile High City (and one Swedish keyboardist) decamping to Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios for a month to capture the 44-minute behemoth was captured in All Gates Open, a 73-minute documentary directed by Niklas Tschaikowsky and Tammo Dehn.
