The Castle Rock “Lighting of the Star” has been a community event shared by residents dating back to 1936. The same spirit of volunteerism, generosity and love of tradition exists today as Castle Rock businesses and residents prepare to celebrate Starlighting downtown on Saturday, November 21. Starlighting will look different this year. There will be the traditional lighting of the star and (fingers crossed) a fireworks display. However, instead of a full-blown downtown festival, there will be three viewing locations and a live stream of the ceremony.
The Starlighting ceremony begins promptly at 5 p.m. and the lighting of the star is at about 5:30 p.m. (maybe a bit earlier).
If you want to venture out, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. you can attend one of the limited capacity locations:
Castle Rock Adventist Hospital Briscoe/Alexander Parking Lots — 2350 Meadows Blvd.
Philip S. Miller Park Amphitheater — 210 E. Wolfensberger Rd.
Douglas County Fairgrounds Outdoor Arena — 500 Fairgrounds Rd.
All public locations have a fabulous view of the The Rock. Each will limit capacity and will feature booths where you can purchase hot chocolate, wine and beer, food trucks, strolling entertainers and live entertainment.
Pre-registration will be required to visit one of the viewing locations. You can register here.
Don’t forget to enjoy the Rink at the Rock, an outdoor ice skating rink in downtown Castle Rock as well. The Starlighting ceremony starts promptly at 5 p.m.
