Arvada is one of the region’s cultural melting pots. So why not bring them all together for a new festival? WinterFest is a FREE, family event with performances, games, food and more on Saturday, February 23 at McIlvoy Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kids can collect passport stamps as they visit booths and play games inspired from around the world.
Nosh your way around the world with food vendors hawking all-natural brats, street tacos, tamales, posole, nachos, Pennsylvania Dutch funnel cakes, pierogi, cabbage rolls, goulash, kielbasa, chicken katsu, BBQ Chicken, brisket and more.
Here’s the entertainment schedule (subject to change):
11:15 a.m. — Asian Cultural Center: Stop by the booth for an Origami presentation and lesson. Try your hand at Japanese calligraphy, and sample some Japanese treats.
12 p.m. — Native America Dancers from different tribes.
12:45 p.m. — Russian Youth Choir. Stop by the booth for some traditional winter games, an opportunity to travel to the Red Square in Moscow and take a picture in Russian head-wear! There will also be some Russian treats to sample.
1:30 p.m. — Sister Cities: Peruvian dancer.
2:15 p.m. — Mexican Cultural Center.
And we’re not sure which country he comes from, but the Chick-fil-A cow will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for pictures.
