Juneteenth is a day for joy, history, and coming together — and music has always been at the heart of it. As part of the Thornton Music Series, Inside the Orchestra invites families to celebrate with a 45-minute interactive concert on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Trail Winds Recreation Center in Thornton. The mini-concert features the works of three Black composers and is designed especially for children 10 and under.

Performed by a violin, viola, cello, oboe (or flute), and trombone quintet, the program concludes with a 15-minute meet-and-greet where kids can talk with the musicians and ask questions.
After the performance, kids can meet the musicians, explore the instruments, and discover the stories behind each piece.
Tickets range from $11 to $13 and may be purchased here.
Parking is free and there is an accessible entrance.
Trail Winds Recreation Center, 13495 Holly St., Thornton.
