Want to get the family out of the house for snow tubing and beer? Head to Conifer’s Aspen Park Village shopping center where the community embraces winter with its annual 285 Winterfest on Saturday, February 23.There’s a snow tubing competition, snowman carving, craft brew crawl, free family movie screening and activities for all ages at Aspen Park Village.
Festivities start at 9:30 a.m. on the Meyer Ranch Sledding Hill for the Mount Lugo Luge Snow Tubing Competition. Shuttles will run from the shopping center to the sledding hill and there’s no charge to watch the insanity of these competitors.
Teams of four compete by tubing down the hill both individually and as a team with awards for the fastest and best aerial dismount. Entries are $5 per participant. You must have a complete team of four people. The fastest team wins $100.
After the race, come back to Aspen Park Village and spend the afternoon. Activities are planned for all ages.
Sign up early for the Snowman Carving Competition as reservations are limited. Teams of four compete between 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to carve the most creative snowman. Carving tools provided, props encouraged. If you don’t carve, that’s okay, you get to be the judge as winners are based on people’s choice. Entries are $5 per carver.
After the snowman carving competition, warm up inside Conifer’s Stagedoor Theatre for a FREE showing of Smallfoot at 1:30 p.m.
For the adults, a Craft Brew Crawl will be offered at participating businesses in the shopping center. Tickets are $15 and include a souvenir tasting glass and samples from 10 different local craft breweries.
Pick up a punchcard at the Chamber tent. While you are strolling the shops at the center, get your card punched to enter drawings for fun prizes.
285 Winterfest also sells all-day packages. Pay $20 for a Family/Youth package which includes luge and snowman carving for four. The $40 Adult Package includes luge and craft brew crawl tickets for four.
