CANCELLED FOR 2018. The Tesoro Cultural Center, a tireless keeper of Western traditions, introduces The Tesoro Living History Experience over 20 summer weekends beginning June 2-4 and wrapping up October 13-15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Opening weekend features demonstration powwows on Friday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a contest powwow on Saturday. The series launches with the 17th annual Powwow Re-enactors and storytellers bring traditions of the Old West to life. Artisans demonstrate such skills as flint-lock rifle shooting, buffalo hide scraping and more.
The simpler programs on subsequent weekends also take place all summer long at The Fort Restaurant, known for its strong ties to the past. The Experience echoes and honors the days along The Santa Fe Trail at Bent’s Fort, upon which the landmark Morrison restaurant was modeled.
Every weekend, meet artists, sample food truck fare and immerse yourself in the West of days gone by. Admission is $5 for adults and FREE for children to age 12. Click here for additional event details. The Fort is located at 19192 Hwy. 8, Morrison, 303-839-1671.
