Families love parks! After four years of planning, the renovation of Russell Square Park in Denver’s Cole Neighborhood moved forward in 2019. The design for the park was complete in 2021 and construction began in early 2022. The total cost of the project reached $1.25 million funded in part by a grant from GOCO, DPR Legacy Funds and DPR Capital Funds.

Improvements to Russell Square Park include an expanded nature-based playground, a small water feature, picnic area updates, an outdoor classroom amphitheater and a multi-use court.
To celebrate the “refreshed” park, My Outdoor Colorado, in partnership with Denver Parks & Recreation (DPR), Trust for Public Land and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), is hosting a Grand Re-Opening event for the community on Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The celebration is FREE and open to the public and will feature a ribbon cutting, speakers, an Easter egg hunt, giveaways and games. There will be special appearances by Wilder, Generation Wild’s popular part goat, part yeti and all friend mascot.
