Ever since Walgreens bought Rite Aid a few years go, there have been major changes at the drugstore chain, namely closing just about every Rite Aid location. And, now, there is only one Rite Aid location standing in Colorado — 2870 S. Colorado Blvd. in Denver. (The store signage may be Walgreens, but the store is still a Rite Aid and won’t officially make the switch until February 8.)
They are in the process of making all the necessary changes for the takeover. Walgreens sells Hallmark greeting cards, wrapping paper and gift bags exclusively, so the location is making the switch from American Greetings to Hallmark products.
For greeting-card-sending bargain hunters, it means big savings. All American Greetings products at the store are now 70% off, including greeting cards, wrapping paper, gift bags, party supplies and more. The sale includes Recycled Paper Greetings and those super-fancy Papyrus cards. Note, there aren’t many Papyrus cards left and no Valentine’s Day cards.
If you’re not the best at math, just remember that for every dollar of the regular price, you’ll pay 30¢ (plus tax) with the percentage off. (If a card is $4.95, you’ll pay $1.50: 5 x 30¢ — just always round up for quicker calculations.)
As the transition date approaches, the discount percentage may increase — probably to 90% off, but the selection may be limited.
When the prices are this low, now’s the time to stock up on birthday, thank-you, get-well and congratulations greeting cards, as well as party supplies and gift wrap.
I especially love the blank greeting cards because you can write whatever you want inside and make the card work for any occasion.
The discount is only valid at the Denver location.
