The Longmont Museum & Cultural Heritage Center, which claims to put on Colorado’s largest Day of the Dead event, has relocated this annual exhibition from windowless inner galleries to the new atrium that is bathed in light and therefore emphasizes the celebratory nature of the day. Today, Saturday, October 31 is FREE family day with live entertainment, sugar skull decorating, traditional food and other attractions. Colorful altars and other traditional Day of the Dead items devoted to deceased loved ones and created by community members are on display through November 8. The museum is at 500 Quail Rd. More than 20 downtown Longmont galleries and other businesses along Main St., roughly between Second and Longs Peak Aves., are getting into the act with their own altars and other displays also through November 8.
