Boulder’s FREE Leanin’ Tree Museum & Sculpture Garden will close in late August, so now is the time to pay a visit to admire the exceptional private collection of Western art before it is auctioned off early next year. Ed Trumble, owner of the Leanin’ Tree Greeting Card Company, was a passionate collector of Western and Native American art, much of which has been reproduced on greeting cards. He opened a museum at his card factory 40 years ago. He is 93 and is closing the museum at the end of August. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Factory tours will continue and you’ll find complete information about them here. 6055 Longbow Dr., Boulder, 303-729-3412.
I am saddened by this news. I so enjoyed visiting the museum. I would make a special trip to Boulder from Aurora, to visit the museum and enjoy the sculptures both inside and outside the museum. Thank you for enriching my life with all the exhibits.
You are not alone in being sad, but it is understandable that at his age, Mr. Trumble is doing what he wishes with his collection. I personally hope that the Denver Art Museum will be able to purchase some for its Western collection.
