Anglers alert: You can be paid to fish. Northern pike is an aggressive fish that was illegally introduced into Green Mountain Reservoir and has been gobbling up native species. Wildlife managers are so anxious to eliminate these finny pests that they are offering $20 for each fish that is caught. Anglers are encouraged to catch and keep as many northern pike (and also smallmouth bass) from the reservoir as they desire. To participate, bring the fish (only the head is required), driver’s license and fishing license to the Heeney Marina starting Thursday, May 26. For more information, call the Colorado Div. of Parks and Wildlife’s Hot Sulphur Springs office, 970-725-6200, or Heeney Marina, 970-724-9441.
