The old mining center of Gold Hill west of Boulder has attracted artists who were captivated by the mountain scenery and inspired by the area’s colorful history. The Gold Hill Art Project is an innovative and FREE series of contemporary installations in cabins and open spaces, where three artists have created new works inspired by local history and the surrounding landscape. Collectively these artworks draw together layers of past and present.
The sites are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through September 5. Click here to register for FREE ceramic and photography workshops for adults and children on Sundays (August 14, 21, 28 and September 4). FREE outdoor film screenings take place those days too. To reach Gold Hill, drive west on Boulder’s Mapleton Ave., which turns into Boulder Canyon Dr. Stop at the Black Cube information tent at 491 College St., Gold Hill for a map to take a walking tour.
