More than 18,000 people are expected at downtown Longmont’s annual Festival on Main, the city’s signature summer event, Friday, August 26. Downtown streets are shut down from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., giving attendees the opportunity to stroll up and down Main Street and enjoy great food, live music on three stages and a beer garden. New for 2016: The fun continues on Saturday, August 27 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Local merchants will be hawking their wares, plus offering games and activities at dozens of booths. Enjoy street performers appearing as live statues, jugglers, stilt walkers, a climbing wall, bounce houses, fire and aerial dancers and many more hands-on activities for the kids. Some of the kids activities require a one-time $5 wristband.
Another family fun area is on Longs Peak Avenue west of Main Street. This area will have a life sized spirograph, bouncy obstacle course and more.
The Festival runs along Main Street from 3rd Ave. to Longs Peak. Saturday events take place on 4th and 5th Ave., breezeways and alleys.
