All the world may be a stage, but the Denver Performing Arts Complex becomes its own stage for the Shakespeare After-Fest on Friday, April 29. Following the Denver Public Schools Shakespeare Festival (a full day of young thespians performing Shakespearean scenes), the DCPA brings together arts organizations to salute one of the world’s greatest playwrights. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. local musicians, performers and painters will use Shakespeare’s works for inspiration. No pence needed for entry — it’s FREE. Hear music from DeVotchKa’s Tom Hagerman, as well as the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, watch mini performances from The Catamounts, The Black Actors Guild, DCPA’s Off-Center and Shakespeare in the Parking Lot, Stories on Stage and PHAMALY. See canvas capture the Bard as artists paint Shakespearean-inspired art live in real-time. For more information, call 893-4100.
