With kids stuck at home, you may be looking for more ways to keep them occupied. Children’s book authors are rising to the occasion, presenting free online story times, where they read their books out loud. There are musicians teaching how to play instruments and pop-up classrooms. In addition, many organizations are offering some live streaming activities for kids.
These will take place on Facebook, Instagram, and perhaps other platforms. Please be patient with the hosts of these events. For many, this is the first time they’ve done it, and technology can be a little quirky.

Lincoln Center Pop-Up Classroom
Schools may be closed but Lincoln Center Pop-Up Classroom is open. Tune in to @LincolnCenterNYC on Facebook Live every weekday at noon for your daily dose of creativity. Led by some of world’s best artists and educators, each creative learning activity utilizes simple materials found at home to help families with children explore a variety of art forms.
Dance Class with Debbie Allen
Debbie Allen has been hosting dance classes on Instagram Live! Check her page for details as these pop up every so often!
Narwhal and Jelly Books
Author and illustrator Ben Clanton is on Instagram Live every Monday at 10:30 a.m. drawing and talking with kids about waffles and mermicons. Find information on his Facebook Live page, but streams are on his Instagram page.
