The annual Buffalo Bill Days festival brings rootin’ tootin’ FREE Wild West fun to Golden, July 29 to 31, 2022. The weekend includes western-style entertainment, Best of the West Parade, Mutton Bustin’ competition, a car show, arts and crafts festival and live concerts by local bands filling Golden’s downtown streets.
The festival officially opens at 5 p.m. on Friday with Dance X on stage at 5 p.m. in Parfet Park (710 Tenth St.), followed by Chris Daniels at 7 p.m. The Long Run closes out Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s Best of the West Parade steps off on Saturday at 10 a.m. The parade boasts more than 70 horses, plus collectible cars, creative floats, fire and emergency vehicles, and several local performing groups. It last about an hour. Arrive early for the best viewing. Keep in mind that parking will be challenging and Washington Ave. will be closed for the parade.
The parade route will be the same as in years past. Here’s a map. There will be two parade announcers stationed on Washington at 10th Street and 13th Street to add to the viewing experience.
A classic car show on Sunday runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show features street rods, classics, trucks, and customs (1971 and earlier) and “orphan” autos whose manufacturers are no longer in existence such as DeLorean, Hudson and Studebaker.
Weekend hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
