Art lovers will want to head up into the mountains for the Plein Air event in vintage, picturesque, Georgetown on Saturday, July 29, 2023. A charming town of colorful Victorian buildings ringed by mountain views, Georgetown has long been a favorite of artists, who will be painting outdoors over the weekend (6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) throughout town and the Georgetown-Silver Plume Historic District.
To see many of the artists at once, check out the Quick Draw on 6th Street from 10 a.m. to noon. Artists congregate on 6th street to produce works of art within a set period of time.
This year’s event coincides with the ongoing Mountain Jams festival and is held in concert with Historic Georgetown, Inc.’s Painted Ladies and Victorian Secrets – Historic Home Tour. The historic house tour features eight private homes, historic churches, museums, and a private Victorian-style garden.
Live music begins with the Mountain Jams free concert in downtown Georgetown from noon to 3:30 p.m. featuring Amy Rose Scott and the School Boys. It continues into the night at the Plein Air gallery opening and reception at the restored Old School Gallery starting at 5 p.m.
The reception, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is open to the public and provides an opportunity to meet the artists and view and purchase completed works. Drinks and meal options will be available for purchase to be enjoyed al-fresco along with the music on our patio.
All artworks are will remain on display and available for sale in the two weeks following the event.
