The Metropolitan Opera’s 2016 season of The Met: Live in HD concludes with Strauss’ Elektra on Saturday, April 30 at select Denver cinemas. This series brings live performances of the world’s best operas into local movie theaters. Genius director Patrice Chéreau didn’t live to see his great Elektra production, previously presented in Aix and Milan, make it to the stage of the Met. But his overpowering vision lives on with soprano Nina Stemme — unmatched today in the heroic female roles of Strauss and Wagner — who portrays Elektra’s primal quest for vengeance. Legendary mezzo-soprano Waltraud Meier is chilling as Elektra’s fearsome mother, Klytämnestra. Soprano Adrianne Pieczonka and bass Eric Owens are Elektra’s troubled siblings. The show starts at 10:55 a.m. and runs about 2 hours. You can win a ticket to see the show. These are guaranteed seats. For your chance to win, email FathomEventsDenver@gmail.com with MHOTC – ELEKTRA in the subject line. Include your name and mailing address in the body of the email. Deadline to email is noon on Friday, April 29. Winners will be drawn and notified shortly after the deadline with tickets sent immediately by email (no more worries about them getting lost). Note: Late, incorrect, and/or duplicate entries will not be considered. You can buy tickets to the April 30 show or an encore showing on May 4 here.
Please tell us which theaters we have a choice of. Don’t want to drive 15 miles if I don’t have to. Thanks.
The movie promotion company did not give us a list of participating cinemas. Likely you can see them on the Buy Tickets area that goes with Elektra.
Got a pair of tix, thanks
