The Metropolitan Opera’s 10th season of The Met: Live in HD continues with Verdi’s Otello on Saturday, October 17 at select Denver cinemas. This series brings live performances of the world’s best operas into local movie theaters. Director Bartlett Sher probes the Moor’s dramatic downfall with an outstanding cast: tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko plays the doomed Otello; new soprano star Sonya Yoncheva sings Desdemona, Otello’s innocent wife and victim; and baritone Željko Lučić plays the evil Iago, who masterminds Otello’s demise. Plus, go behind the scenes with Met opera stars including interviews with cast, crew, and production teams for a look at what goes into the staging of an opera.
