UPDATE: We were there yesterday and the shelves are somewhat empty. It’s definitely not worth a special trip. However, if you’re in the area, you might find a bargain or two — just not a cartful. Yesterday, Bryan’s mother purchased about $350 worth of stuff for $100! The Safeway at 12680 W. 64th Ave. (Ward Rd. & 64th Ave.) in Arvada is going out of business. The store will close on Saturday, April 30. The close-out sale continues. Here’s the current breakdown of discounts (by category): Meat, deli, seafood and produce are 30% off; grocery and frozen foods are 40% off; bakery is 40% off; health, beauty aides, candy and general merchandise are 70% off; dairy and soft drinks are 30% off; and greeting cards are 90% off. Of course, as the final business day approaches, the discount will continue to increase. Happy bargain hunting!
