We just received notice from the Denver Film Society. The remainder of its Family Flicks series is cancelled. Movies can bring families together through the collective inspiration, education and imagination they generate on the big screen. There’s just something about discussing a movie (or sharing a laugh) afterward with friends and family on the ride home — each person having a unique perspective. And Saturday morning is the perfect time to soak it all in.
Denver Film Society is hosting a summer Family Flicks series sponsored by KIND Snacks at the Sie FilmCenter (2510 E. Colfax Ave.) The $5 admission (per person) includes a breakfast parfait bar and granola bars provided by (guess who?) KIND Snacks, as well as a sponsored activity following the screening. Kids (6 & under) are FREE. (If you purchase tickets online, there is a $1 service fee per ticket.)
Each film starts at 10:30 a.m. Here’s the schedule: June 3 – Hook; June 10 – Muppets Treasure Island; June 17 – The Pirates! Band of Misfits; June 24 – The Goonies; July 8 – E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial; July 15 – Honey, I Shrunk The Kids; July 22 – Back To The Future; July 29 – Tron; and August 6 – Shrek. (Note: The website has conflicting information, so titles may change, as follows: July 8 – Flubber; July 22 – Robots; July 29– October Sky; and no show on August 6. If we receive corrected information, we will update the post accordingly.)
