Meow! Cats make everything better. And, if you don’t have a furry feline at home, you can still spend quality time with the special creatures — thanks to the Denver Cat Company at 3929 Tennyson St. Founded in 2014, the coffee house was started by former attorney Leila Qari, who was captivated by the concept of cat cafés, popular in Japan and Europe. The Denver Cat Company was at the forefront of the burgeoning trend in America.
With mellow music, books and comfy chairs, the cozy coffee house is an environment where students, remote workers, families, couples and friends could all feel at home . . . with the addition of friendly cats to make everything feel even cozier.
The cafe’s main goal is to provide a cage-free environment for its rescue cats, who get a lots of playtime and love — while they’re waiting to find their forever home. The environment allows customers to truly get to know a cat’s personality before adoption.
At any given time, you can find around 15 cats at the café, all of whom are fully vetted and ready to go home, after a completed adoption process. To date, they have facilitated the adoptions of more than 1,700 cats.
Even under the current circumstances, you can still visit and support the small business — just by reservation only.
The cost is $9 to $12 per person.
Here’s how you can enjoy 50 minutes of bliss with the cats:
Step 1 – Review its current rules and precautions.
Step 2 – Book your reservation here.
Step 3 – Arrive 5 minutes early for check-in.
Step 4 – Grab a toy at the front counter and have fun.
You can also support the cafe’s mission from afar. They have also reconfigured as an essential store selling cat supplies. You can order and pay online for your cat’s favorite fancy food for curbside or in-store pick-up, during business hours.
The cafe is open Monday to Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
They even have special hours for seniors Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
