King Soopers Changes Scan Accuracy Guarantee

POSTED BY
Bryan

Okay, this isn’t exactly breaking news. The policy changed on April 30 this year. I just can’t believe it missed my radar! King Soopers no longer gives customers an item for FREE, when it scans incorrectly. As of now, the grocery store’s Scan Accuracy Guarantee states that they will simply give you the lower price. This is definitely bad news for eagle-eyed bargain hunters and receipt checkers, like me. (It was always a welcome surprise to get an item for free.) For me, it happens more often than you’d think and not just at King Soopers. I see price discrepancies all the time at most stores. It’s just that most people don’t review their receipt. The policy change should not discourage you from taking a quick glance at your receipt. Keep checking to ensure you’re charged correctly. For savers, every penny counts!

Disappointed ks no longer allows you to use paper manufacturer coupons on discounted items…used to just be at Monaco and leetsdale, but now it seems to be policy. Seeking other shopping opportunities ( and told k.s.)

okay, first they stopped letting us combine the e-coupon with the manufacturers coupon, then the loss of the double coupons. Now this. I even had a checker tell me that I couldn’t use a coupon on a clearance item.
Their prices aren’t even that great.
I’ve been loyal to KS for 40 years but now, I think I will switch to Safeway.

I’m not happy with all the reductions in deals (no doubling of coupons, no “free” if priced wrong, etc.), but I understand that Krogers is suffering massively these days (competition with Walmart and now Amazon buying Whole Foods), so they need to economize as much as possible. BUT, what drives me crazy is that they NEVER seem to announce the changes or ever put them in writing somewhere that customers can check easily (with the exception of the discontinuation of doubling). Managers just “declare” that they don’t do “that” – whatever “that” may be. No written confirmation that the policy changed. And managers abuse that bad habit (of not documenting specific rules). Just the other day, I was informed that I could NOT use a VALID coupon on items purchased wth a RAIN CHECK! Not an expired coupon. And NOT discontinued/clearance products, but simply ones that had been on sale the previous week and totally out of stock at the time. Absurd! I tried to argue the point, saying I had done exactly that just a few days before at the same store (Glendale). She was adamant and rather rude, acting as if I was trying to pull something, rather than just getting the deal I had been unable to the week before because of their stocking failure. So, I left all the products at the checkout stand and promptly went to another Kings and used the coupon with the raincheck. Absolutely no problem at the other store.
