Golden is best known for its beer. But that will change with the kick-off of Artsweek Golden, a week-long celebration of the arts, from July 8 to 14, orchestrated by the Foothills Art Center and culminating in a weekend arts festival with more than 100 artists exhibiting their works in downtown.
The festival includes activities that take place throughout Golden, including yarn-bombing of Golden sculptures, performance art, sidewalk chalk and plein air painting. Parking spots along a stretch of Washington Ave. (Golden’s Main Street), will be converted into pop-up parking space art studios.
Among the FREE events:
Yarn Bombing Golden’s sculptures- — July 8
Luau with Hawaiian Quilts — July 9
Not so silent screening of Man with a Movie Camera — July 10
Aerialists in the Garden — July 11
Chalk on the Creek — July 12
The main event is the Foothills Fine Arts Festival on Saturday & Sunday, July 13 & 14 in Downtown Golden on 12th and Arapahoe Street. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days and admission is FREE.
