There’s nothing “plain” about this experience! Going to the movies is tricky this summer. However, Arapahoe County has devised a unique option with its Pictures on the Plains. Watch a flick from your very own socially-distanced “pod” on the grass. Families are invited to spend a night under the stars at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, August 12 and watch Jurassic Park on the big outdoor screen.
Bring a picnic, games, blankets and lawn chairs for a fun family night on the plains.
Entrance opens at 5 p.m., the pre-movie concert (featuring Strings and the Box) starts at 6:30 p.m. and the movie gets rolling at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Each designated “family pod” is a 15′ x 15′ square on Arapahoe County Fairgrounds’ Central Greens lawn, where a family of up to six (6) people can eat, play and spend time together during the event. Families with more than six (6) people may reserve up to two (2) pods. Each reserved pod is designed for families and those who live and travel together. Friends who do not live together are encouraged to reserve pods next to each other.
Masks are required for people ages 11 and older and must be worn whenever outside the pod. Children under 11 are encouraged to wear masks, but not required.
Concessions will not be available for this event.
Admission is FREE. However, reservations are required. Reservations open on Friday, August 7 at 1 p.m. — click here. The event is limited to 250 people total.
