It’s Top Gun time in Colorado as the Rocky Mountain Airshow flies into Broomfield this August 14 to 16. This isn’t the cheapest event in town, but it is one of the most thrilling. More than 25,000 people show up at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport for flight performances with thrilling aerobatics, afterburners and pyrotechnics. This year’s line up will feature Rocky Mountain Renegades, Rocky Mountain Aero Squadron, a Stars & Stripes night rocket launch, an aerial comedy act, F-16 Viper demo and the USAFA Wings of Blue Parachute Demo Team. But all the fun isn’t be sky-high. An Adventure Zone hosts activities designed to educate and excite the kids about aviation and hundreds of aircraft, including rare war birds, will fill the tarmacs. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday. Purchase tickets in advance to avoid those lines at the on-site box office. Tickets start at $20 for adults and $5 for kids (ages 6 to 12). Parking is FREE.
