Winner is Matthew! Maybe you can’t afford to fly to New York City to see a performance by the Metropolitan Opera. But you can see a live performance right here in Denver. The Met: Live in HD will be presented live in select movie theaters nationwide including six along the Front Range. The second opera is Wagner’s Parsifal on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. local time. Jonas Kaufmann stars in the title role of the innocent who finds wisdom in François Girard’s new vision for Wagner’s final masterpiece. His fellow Wagnerian luminaries include Katarina Dalayman as the mysterious Kundry, Peter Mattei as the ailing Amfortas, Evgeny Nikitin as the wicked Klingsor, and René Pape as the noble knight Gurnemanz. Daniele Gatti conducts. The opera runs about five hours and 45 minutes with intermissions. MHOTC readers can enter to win a family four-pack of tickets (value $100) to see the performance at Highlands Ranch 24 with IMAX. To enter: Leave a comment telling us your favorite opera. Deadline to enter is Saturday, February 23 at 3 p.m. One name will be randomly drawn and contacted by email so we can mail you the passes. Please check your spam filters.
