Ginormous Used Book Sale, 9/9-12

The Arapahoe Library District holds it annual used book sale, Thursday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 12 at Koelbel Library. One of the largest such sales in the area, it boasts more than 40,000 books and other media. The sale is open to the public Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Books are priced from $2.50 for hardbacks to 50¢ for paperbacks. Sunday is Bag Day. For $6 you can fill one of the library-provided bags. If you want to get in on the action early, consider becoming a Friend of the Library. Memberships start at $15 for seniors or students ($30 for individuals) and they get to attend a special preview sale on Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 5955 S. Borders Puts Wind-Up Toys & Glitter Balls On Sale

Borders has an in-store sale on their wide selection of wind-up toys and glitter balls. Regularly priced from $4.99 to $9.99, the gizmos are now all on sale for 99¢ cents each – a savings of up to 90%. Both the toys and balls come in a variety of styles, sizes and colors. Plus, some of the wind-up toys are water-friendly and some of the glitter balls light up. Most would make great party favors, Halloween treats or stocking stuffers. Happy September! You know that MHOTC is the go-to source for specifics of the best deals that wecan find. Bbut in general, we just want to remind you of tactics for saving bundles at this time of year. Here are five sure-fire seasonal savings opportunities:

Labor Day Sales. Retailers large and small run long-weekend sales, often stating before Saturday and running past Monday.
End-of-Season Sales. Clearances of light apparel, sandals, swimwear, hiking gear and more. Many retailers launched their summer clearances back in July, so what’s left is often on sale at rockbottom prices.
Ski and Snowboard Stuff. SkiRex, Sniagrab and Powder Daze are the upcoming annual mega-sales of last year’s ski and snowboard equipment, apparel and accessories, and smaller retailers also run their own sales on carry-over inventory.
Lift Tickets and Season Passes. Loveland and A-Basin will start blowing snow soon after the last aspen leaves drop from the trees. That means ski season is just a calendar page away. The best prices for season passes and multi-day lift ticket packs are now.
Back-to-School Sales. The kids may already be in school, but these sales often linger into September. If you forgot something, or your young scholar has already lost or brokens omething, now is the time to replenish.

Owned by Bimbo (which bought out Mrs. Baird’s) the stores sell Oroweat, Entenmann’s, Marinela, Boboli pizza crusts, Thomas English muffins and more. Most days you’ll find a BOGO deal. Plus for every $5 you spend, you get an item from the “free” rack. Everything is sold below grocery store prices and nothing is more than three days old (after that the goods are donated to local food banks). Fresh items are marked down 20%, day-old items even more. Military members and their families always receive a 10% discount. Plus every shopper gets a Bakery Outlet Punch Card. Fill your punch card and receive a extra freebies. Sandals on Sale at Pedestrian Shops

Boulder’s Pedestrian Shops have put sandals on sale with savings of up to 50%. Pedestrian Shops are known for carrying super- comfortable brans such us Birkenstock, Chaco, Clark’s, Dansko Earth, Keen and NAOT. The sale will last through the month — or until the sandals are sold, and then you can find strays in the downtown store’s single-pairs section. Use Back-To-School Deals To Help Operation Christmas Child

These days you can take advantage of back-to-school sales and be like Santa Claus to help needy children worldwide. It may seem like an unusual addition to the annual back-to-school shopping spree, but through Operation Christmas Child families can make a real difference simply by keeping the box from their new school shoes and filling it with small gifts such as school supplies, small toys, and a letter of encouragement.
