SONIC Drive-In is “shaking” things up again with its very popular late-night offer. The burger chain’s daily half-price Happy Hour on drinks and slushes from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. does not include shakes. However, if you’re willing to wait a few hours, enjoy an even sweeter treat and still save a few bucks. For a limited time, after 8 p.m., all shakes and ice cream slushes are 50% off. (The promo typically ends in late August.) Choose from more than 25 sweet, delicious flavors. Each shake is topped with whipped cream and a cherry, of course. Where’s the tartar sauce?

The kid-friendly meals, all of which are served with a choice of fries or applesauce, include the following: Original Steakburger, mini corn dogs, macaroni & cheese, Steakburger Minis, hot dog, grilled cheese and chicken fingers. The best way to start your day is with savings! Every Wednesday in April, Chick-fil-A is serving up a FREE breakfast entrée from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at participating locations in the Denver metro area. Mark your calendar (or set reminders on your smartphone) for April
5, 12, 19 and 26.
On Wednesdays, each location will offer a FREE breakfast entrée “of the restaurant’s choice.” As a result, the item will vary by location each week. The morning freebie is valid in-restaurant and at the drive-thru. No purchase necessary. Limit one per person, per visit. There are more than 20 locations in the Denver metro area.
With the weather heating up, we’ll all be using more ice — whether it’s for drinks at home or filling the cooler for a family adventure. Once the ice from the freezer is depleted (or for those without an ice maker, like me), you have to go buy a few bags of ice. Of course, you’ll want to find the hottest price in town. And what’s more convenient than heading to a McDonald’s drive-thru?
The fast-food restaurant sells an 8-pound bag of ice for just 99¢ at participating locations. (Note: The price varies by location, up to $1.49 — still a cool deal! Some locations might be slightly higher.) As a true cheapskate, I keep a small cooler in the car with bottled water and Diet Coke on hot days, when running errands all day. (Did you really think I’d pay $2 for a bottle of water or soda? No way!) Plus, it works for keeping perishable items cold from the grocery store, so I don’t have to rush back home. I just bring along a few Ziploc bags to keep the items from getting wet.
Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custardis celebrating the warmer weather with its newest menu item, the West Coast Double Burger. The burger features two 3-oz. patties topped with two slices of American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, red onion and special house-made California style sauce. The burger is being offered at a limited-time value price of $3. If you’re really hungry, enjoy a double combo (with a side of fries and a drink) for $5. Did you know the restaurant was founded in 1987 in Boulder? There are now 35 locations in Colorado.
There’s something fishy about this deal…really! Rubio’s Coastal Grill claims to be the restaurant that “introduced America to the fish taco” back in 1983. The hand-battered wild Alaskan Pollock topped with fresh cabbage, mild salsa and white sauce (all on a stone-ground corn or thick flour tortilla and garnished with a slice of lime) has become the quick-service restaurant’s signature item. Every Tuesday, the chain offers its Original Fish Taco for only $1.75 (reg. $3.29.) They also offer its Fish Taco Especial (on Tuesdays) for $2 (reg. $3.69.) What’s the Fish Taco Especial? The Original Fish Taco topped with handmade guacamole, a blend of cheeses and a cilantro/onion mix — served on a warm corn tortilla and garnished with a slice of lime. The deal is only valid after 2:30 p.m. To get your hooks on this deal, sail over to one of its four Colorado locations – Aurora, Broomfield, Highlands Ranch and Lakewood. There’s a Littleton location opening on April 13.
If you missed picking up a 2017 Chick-fil-A calendar, you’re in luck. And it’s now even a better deal. The Chick-fil-A in Lakewood (14730 W. Colfax Ave.) is selling its remaining calendars at 50% off — just $3.50 each (reg. $7), plus tax. (The restaurant is located next to Colorado Mills.) Yes, you’ve missed the first 3 months, but there are still 9 months of FREE food. To review the remaining monthly offers, click here. The discounted calendars are available, while supplies last. If there’s any confusion, ask to speak to a manager. (On my first attempt to buy a few, the young man at the register was unaware of the sale and turned me away.) The offer was announced via its Twitter account and Facebook page. As far as I know, this is the only location selling discounted calendars. If you know of another location, please let other readers know by commenting below.
If you love a bargain breakfast, head to Burger King. For a limited time, the fast-food chain is offering three large pancakes (plus syrup) for just 89¢. That’s less than 30¢ per flapjack! The offer is available during breakfast hours at participating locations. For an additional cost, add hash browns, sausage, French Toast Sticks or oatmeal — for a bigger breakfast.
Dining at Sonic Drive-In is like travelling back in time, with its ordering bays and servers on skates. (I can never figure out how those kids deliver food on skates. If it were me, there would be lots of lost orders and big messes!) Even though the prices aren’t from the 50s, you can still find significant savings at the fast-food chain. I have a location just down the street from my home, so I consider myself an expert on its deals and promos. Here are 6 great deals you can always find at Sonic Drive-In:
For many, Subway is the perfect stop for a quick, “cheap” and healthier lunch option — even more so with its latest daily special. For $6, get a Footlong “Sub of the Day.” Here’s the weekly line-up: Sunday – Meatball Marinara; Monday – Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki; Tuesday – Oven-Roasted Chicken; Wednesday – Turkey Breast; Thursday – Italian BMT; Friday – Tuna; and Saturday – Black Forest Ham. There is an additional charge for extras, including double meat. The deal is for a limited time at participating locations. (If you’re not quite as hungry for a Footlong, many locations continue to offer the same daily promo for a 6-inch at $3.50.)
For those who enjoy lunch with a sweet treat, Dairy Queen continues its popular lunchtime meal deal. The DQ $5 Buck Lunch is now available all day at participating locations. Get two crispy chicken wraps, three chicken strips or cheeseburger, as well as fries, a beverage and small sundae, for just $5. For just a buck more, upgrade the small sundae to a small Blizzard.
Mmm…it’s Wednesday! For a limited time, KFC is offering a Chicken Fried Steak Meal for $3.99 every Wednesday at participating locations. The meal deal includes chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes (with gravy), coleslaw and a buttermilk biscuit. Most locations will let you substitute the mashed potatoes and coleslaw with different sides — just ask.
We’ve seen this promo at only one Pizza Hut location, but, if you work or live nearby, it’s a great deal. The Golden location at 17540 S. Golden Rd. serves up a lunch buffet Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for just $6.99. (Yes, the price went up by a few bucks, but it’s still a bargain.) The all-you-can-eat spread includes salad, pizza, pasta and dessert. (Unfortunately, no drink is included. True cheapskates will stick with water. It’s better for you anyway, right?) Don’t overindulge. You don’t want to leave feeling stuffed, even if it is a bargain buffet. In any case, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth in just a few trips to the buffet bar. Reader Morgen tells me that the same offer is also available at 12947 S. Parker Rd. in Parker.
Double down on this deal from Taco Bell. For a limited time, get a Double Stacked Taco for just $1 at participating locations. Choose from Nacho Crunch, Cool Habanero and Spicy Sweet. Why double stacked? It’s made with a tortilla and crunchy shell, as the “outer wrap” with sauce in between. If you’re really hungry, add some food from its Dollar Cravings menu for a big meal without a big price.
